Whatever they paid, it was too much
Study about people who play the opposite gender
IMO it was too small and it completely missed the obvious answer for most male players (can't speak for females).

It was way too small and wasn't equal. Most of the people surveyed were male. Even though more men play MMOs than women, you still need to have equal representation in an experiment.
So how's that cure for cancer coming along, anyway?

I can speak for me at least (lady that I am)....some of the female choices were horrible!! SO when I made my first male character (monk --tyria) it was because I didnt like any of the female choices.
My second male was made because I already had the female version and looked thru the male options and found one I liked (rit).
When I have role played in the past they were all women unless I was specifically told to make a male character.
I would think that women, too, like to look at something 'nice' and looking at a female toon all day long gets old. Though I do concur that fending off the harassing comments does go a long way as well.

Oh wow, they asked 32 women. They are experts on female gamers now!
*sniff sniff**
Is that the aroma of sarcasm? Why, yes, it is
Idiots. They think these "statistics" show a trend? It's not enough to even be a sample let alone a baseline.

1345.12% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
Sorry, did that add up to more than 100%? I just hit random numbers to prove my point.

I would also bet that they did the survey in WoW... where most people have one 1 character. I have an equal amount of female and male charries, purely based on how good they look

I made a female Mesmer because I thought all the male Mesmer character models looked dumb.

idk I just play male characters because I like characters to reflect me...Though it wouldn't kill me to play female.

I do both. I play whichever looks better.
For mesmer, warrior, monk, elementalist, dervish; female.
For ranger, ritualist, paragon, necromancer, assassin; male.

I am male and play only male characters.. I tried playing female once but quickly deleted that character. I just don't see why you would want to play the gender opposite to your own..

50% of my brain cells think you two just pulled those numbers out of your butts. 25% of my brain cells are waiting for pizza and the rest are thinking about nude women.

By "the rest", you mean that other one, right? Percentages are a great way to hide small samples.

I kinda found this disturbing and somewhat unfair. I'm a male so I play only male characters *no reason in particular, I just don't play female characters* and I also think that interviewing a few women and a bunch of men suddenly make them experts on gamers of both gender >_>
p.s: 99% of my brain is focused on schoolwork the other 1% is broken up between gaming, anime, and girls...*somehow I feel an evil presence that the girl next door will hate me if she reads this...having a girl with a crush on you living next door is not always pleasant*
